The National Coral Reef Monitoring Program (NCRMP), a long-term coral reef ecosystem monitoring program, addresses critical questions about coral health, fish sustainability, community knowledge, and more. NCRMP helps answer these questions by monitoring all shallow (0-30m) coral reefs across the nation using standardized protocols for biological, environmental, and socioeconomic parameters.
NCRMP provides high quality data, data products, and tools to the people who need it - local communities, researchers, and managers. Use the information on this page to access and understand how to use the data effectively.
NCRMP is also the only nation-wide survey to study how society values coral reefs. This deeper understanding of the human connections to coral reefs helps managers assess the social and economic consequences of coral reef management policies, interventions, and activities.
